Mathematical models of tumor growth ∗
In the lecture we describe some elements of mathematical modeling of tumor growth. We present deterministic mathematical models most often used for description of tumor growth. Development of a model, based on some biological assumption, is also illustrated by one example. Described models are tested and compared by ability to describe experimental data.
متن کاملMathematical Models of Brain Deformation Behaviour for Computer-integrated Neurosurgery
This Report discusses mathematical models of brain deformation behaviour for neurosurgical simulation, brain image registration and computer simulation of development of structural brain diseases. These processes can be reasonably described in purely mechanical terms, such as displacements (or displacement field), internal forces (stresses), pressure (or pressure field), flow and velocity of th...
متن کاملMathematical Modeling of Thrombus Growth Phenomenological Models
Phenomenological mathematical model of laser-induced thrombi growth is developed on the basis of Bogolubov’s hierarchy of time scales. The stochastic character of thrombi growth is revealed in the model by explicit introduction of the probability function. The main foundations of the model correspond to the basic experimental results concerning thrombus formation obtained in recent years. The m...
متن کاملMathematical Models of Avascular Tumor Growth
This review will outline a number of illustrative mathematical models describing the growth of avascular tumors. The aim of the review is to provide a relatively comprehensive list of existing models in this area and discuss several representative models in greater detail. In the latter part of the review, some possible future avenues of mathematical modeling of avascular tumor development are ...
متن کاملMathematical models for Isoptera (Insecta) mound growth.
In this research we proposed two mathematical models for Isoptera mound growth derived from the Von Bertalanffy growth curve, one appropriated for Nasutitermes coxipoensis, and a more general formulation. The mean height and the mean diameter of ten small colonies were measured each month for twelve months, from April, 1995 to April, 1996. Through these data, the monthly volumes were calculated...
